Terms of work

The simple rules for any job I do for you. Please read them before we agree a date.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who I am

The Farnham Handyman is The Farnham Handyman Ltd, company number 16695836, registered office 21 Poplar Walk, Farnham, GU9 0QL. You can contact me on 07957 573626 or at thefarnhamhandyman@gmail.com.

2. Prices and quotes

  • Prices on this website are a guide. I'll confirm your price before any work starts, and that's the price you pay unless the job changes.
  • If something unexpected comes up on the day, such as a wall that needs a different fixing, I'll explain it and agree any change with you before carrying on.
  • There's a minimum charge of £65 for any visit, which covers my first hour. If you'd like me to come and take a look first, that visit is £65, paid upfront by bank transfer to book it. I can't always guarantee a fix in that first hour.
  • I'm not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
  • Your quote states exactly what's included, including any materials. Fixings, plugs, screws and adhesives are included for picture and mirror hanging, shelving, TV mounting and panelling.

3. Booking a date

  • The days and times you choose on the form are preferences. Your booking is confirmed when I confirm the date and you agree it.
  • Standard bookings start from 4 working days after your request, Monday to Friday.
  • Evenings and weekends are sometimes possible, charged at priority rates plus 10%.

4. Priority bookings

  • Priority adds £50 or 10% of the job, whichever is higher. I aim to do the job within 2 working days of confirming.
  • Once I confirm I can fit you in, a £50 deposit by bank transfer secures your date. It's part of your priority fee, not an extra charge. For a priority take-a-look visit, the £65 visit charge is also paid upfront.
  • If I confirm a priority date and can't make it, you don't pay the priority fee, your deposit is refunded, and you get 5% off the job.

5. Postcode Perk

  • If you and a neighbour with the same full postcode both book jobs, and I can do them on the same day, you each get 15% off your job price.
  • I need to know both jobs before the day, so your neighbour either sends their own request, or you add their jobs to the same request and I'll split the bill on the day. The perk applies once both jobs are agreed and booked for the same day.
  • The discount doesn't apply to priority fees, waste removal or the £65 take-a-look visit.
  • If the jobs can't be done on the same day, normal prices apply.

6. Your right to cancel

  • As we agree the job by phone, message, email or online, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing it, without giving a reason.
  • If you'd like the work done within those 14 days, you'll need to ask me to start sooner. You can still cancel, but you'll pay for any work already done.
  • To cancel, just tell me by phone, message or email. Please include your name, address and the date of the job.

7. Late cancellation

  • Please give me at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a confirmed booking.
  • With less notice, a £25 late cancellation charge applies, as I may have turned other work away to fit you in. For priority bookings, the £50 deposit isn't refunded.

8. Paying

Payment is due when the job's done, by bank transfer or cash. The only things paid upfront are the priority deposit and take-a-look visits.

9. What I'll ask of you

  • Give me access to the area at the agreed time, with it clear enough to work.
  • Tell me about anything I should know, such as where you think pipes or cables run, or anything fragile nearby.
  • Make sure anything you've bought for me to fit, like shelves, blinds or a stair gate, is there and complete.

10. Guarantee

  • Anything I install is guaranteed for 12 months. If it comes loose, I'll come back and put it right free of charge.
  • For repairs to something that's already there, I guarantee my repair, but not the parts of the original item I didn't touch.
  • The guarantee doesn't cover damage, misuse, or items being overloaded beyond what we agreed.

11. Things outside my control

  • I take care with your walls and home, but I'm not responsible for existing problems, such as loose or crumbling plaster, that only show up during the work. I'll tell you straight away if I find one.
  • I'm not responsible for faults in items you supply, such as missing parts or a faulty bracket.
  • I'm fully insured for the work I do in your home.

12. Rubbish and packaging

For small jobs I tidy up and put packaging in your own bin. Taking waste away starts from £35, depending on how much there is, and is only charged if we've agreed it in your quote.

13. If something's not right

Please tell me as soon as you can on 07957 573626 or at thefarnhamhandyman@gmail.com, and I'll do my best to put it right.

14. Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
